Project summary:今日世界中に広がる幼稚園は、その普及初期にユダヤ系活動家が深く関わっていたことが幼稚園教育史の中で断片的に語られていた。しかしその人物が、単にユダヤ系であったことだけが研究の中で言及されていただけにすぎず、それ以上掘り下げられることはなかった。
申請者の最近の調査によると、イタリア・ヴェネツィアのカンナレージョと呼ばれる地区に、中世から続く、世界で最初にゲットーと呼ばれるようになったユダヤ人コミュニティがあり、この地区にフレーベル幼稚園や保育者養成校の史跡が集中していることがわかってきた。
本研究では、ユダヤ系の人々がドイツ生まれの幼稚園をなぜ推進したのかという問題意識から、ヴェネツィアのユダヤ人コミュニティにおける幼稚園導入の活動の実態を明らかにすることで、従来までの幼稚園導入史に新たな一石を投じようとするものである。
