Inductive teaching, Deductive Teaching, cultural impact

My Master’s degree thesis delved into why East Asians rely so heavily on deductive grammar teaching, and whether inductive teaching would help or hinder learning. Since the principles of Confucianism align so closely with those of the Grammar Translation Method, which largely inform deductive teaching, I looked at the effect that Confucian culture had on the effectiveness of either the inductive or deductive method.
I advocated a hybrid approach adult participants, but my interest in (inductive/ implicit) acquisition within the context of Krashen’s Acquisition/ Learning and Input hypotheses persists. Further research interests include how home environments and “family capital” contributes to language acquisition/ learning.
