My research lies at the intersection of international economics, environmental economics, and Japanese economic history, with a particular focus on empirical analyses using micro-level data. I study how exchange rate fluctuations affect firms' decision-making and evaluate economic policies that promote or hinder globalization through a combination of economic theory and data analysis. I am also interested in Japan's economic history and use historical data from the late Edo and Meiji periods to address enduring economic questions that remain relevant today.
