光には、光強度や、偏光、波長、角運動量(スピン・軌道)などさまざまな自由度があります。これらの性質を持つ光が、マイクロ〜ナノといった微小なスケールの物質と相互作用する際に、どのような現象が生じるのか、未解明の領域が数多く残されています。私は、ナノスケールの物質の光操作や、ナノ領域の光を用いた物質の可視化など、光の多様な自由度を巧みに活用した新たな原理の理論的解明を目指しています。基礎となる量子力学や電磁気学の理論に加え、必要に応じてブラウン運動シミュレーションや数値流体力学なども取り入れ、応用を見据えた研究に取り組んでいます。
